More real jobs means a brighter future for families in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire

Simon Hart MP has welcomed new figures showing that 288 fewer people are claiming Jobseeker's Allowance in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire since 2010, a 23 per cent drop. This means more people in work, with the security of a regular pay packet and a brighter future ahead of them.

Throughout Britain the number of people relying on Jobseeker's Allowance has fallen below 1 million for the first time since 2008.

Mr Hart said:

"It's excellent news that 288 fewer people are relying on benefits and that is a credit to local employers. This makes a huge difference to people's lives, meaning many more local people can look forward to a brighter, more secure future, for themselves and their families.

"However there is always more to do at a Government level to drive the numbers down still further, and the improving economy helps us do just that"
