A joint campaign by Simon Hart MP and a community council to try to make a new junction safer has been given a big boost.
The local MP joined forces with Eglwys Cymmin Community Council to highlight the danger of the turn off from the new by-pass at Red Roses.
If you are travelling west, the turning is extremely sharp, on a fast downhill section of road and has no slip, unlike the junction at Llandowror.
Both Mr Hart and the community council have written repeated letters to Welsh Transport Minister Edwina Hart – and now Mr Hart has been told a camera will be installed to monitor the situation.
In a letter to Simon Hart sent last week, she said: "A temporary camera to record driver behaviour will be installed next week and the footage will be reviewed monthly to determine if any further work is required."
Mr Hart welcomed the development: "This is great news, it's the best that we can hope for really. If there is no proof that drivers are struggling with navigating the junction safely then fair enough, but I am delighted that the Welsh Government is now taking this matter more seriously."
